Six Sigma, Sick Workers, Etc.

Renowned researcher Tom Davenport cites five reasons why the Six Sigma quality movement is slip sliding away.... comScore Inc., which tracks Internet sales, says online holiday says rose 19 percent over last year, reaching $29.2 billion.... The role of the Chief Risk Officer is broadening, according to an recent article in the GARP Risk Review (as summarized in Harvard Business School's First Look newsletter: "CROs were once considered compliance specialists, most now wield board-level power and are heavily involved in areas like governance, capital allocation, data management, internal reporting and group-level budgeting and planning."

A new report by Saugatuck Research predicts that between now and 2010, 60 percent of all new virtualization deployments will be done by just three vendors: Cisco, VMware and Citrix. I can relate to this: 83 percent of workers say they work when they are sick, according to a study by ComPsych Corporation, a provider of employee assistance programs.
