PaaS + EaaS + SaaS = Cloud Computing

A battle is brewing between Hewlett-Packard and Salesforce.com over the latest acronym for cloud computing.

In a call for research proposals, HP referred to Everything as a Service, or EaaS as an extention of Software as a Service, SaaS, that offers more than programs accessed over the Web, such as storage services.

Now, according to WSJ.com's Business Technology blog, the so-called Pied Piper of SaaS, Salesforce.com Marc Benioff has moved on to Platform as a Service, or PaaS, a term that he sprinkled liberally through the San Francisco company's earnings call Wednesday.

Do you have any new acronyms to describe the future of cloud computing. Let us know below.

Sam Jones :

See dbaas.wordpress.com for Database as a Service.

Sounds like HP is trying to "1 up" everyone since they are late comers to the party like EMC.
