IT Remains a Bright Spot in Gloomy Jobs Data

Once again, IT employment rose in the face of otherwise horrible job numbers. Today's release of November statistics from the BLS shows a jump of about .2% Manufacturing jobs in computers and electronic products continued to decline; the job losses were not steep -- about 1/2 of 1% -- but they included every sub-sector of the category. The overall report was gloomy, showing a drop in nonfarm payroll employment of 533,000 jobs, and a rise in unemployment from 6.5 to 6.7 percent. |

Wrong, Ed. The category "computer systems design and related services" grew up 2700 jobs, not 2.7 percent. That's only a 2/10's of one percent increase. Your other numbers are incorrect by the same account.

During downturns companies strong enough to weather the storm and invest in innovation and product development historically have done well. Firstone tire was a small company and refined tire making process and their tires during the 30's when WII kicked in, they were ready. Now is the time to prepare for next. Get our IT service support steady, track, and automated. Get development processes down for growth. Smart companies growth companies are hiring.
