MSFT Ad is to PC/Mac Campaign as Zune is to iPod

Early reviews are not kind for the new Microsoft ad featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates, but you can judge it for yourself:

OK, I didn't want to prejudice you, but it wasn't very good, was it? The whole thing rests on an unfresh "OMG, that's Bill Gates acting goofy!" premise. And Jerry Seinfeld is best known to the kidz today as that guy on the reruns their parents watch.

Maybe the campaign will improve over time. For $300 million, it really should.

More from Mary Jo on what Microsoft is trying to accomplish, with the ads and beyond them.

dbutters :

By comparing the commercial to the Zune/iPod, you mean that the commercial has more features, better hardware, and lacks a fanboi/cult following? Because this commercial sucks, and the Mac/PC commercials are awesome.
