Libraries in the Digital Age
|
I'm on a panel with Paul Jones this evening at the Central Library in Greensboro, NC. We'd love to see you if you happen to be in the neighborhood. The subject of libraries in the digital age is something that Paul knows a lot more about than I do -- or than most people do, actually, as he's Director of ibiblio.org, aka "The Public's Library -- a large contributor-run digital library." He's also on the faculties of the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the School of Information and Library Science, so I'm clearly in over my head, but that happens often enough that I'm used to it. A lot of the issues at hand matter to businesses, including storage, access, privacy, and technology choices. Having an educated, tech-savvy populace is pretty important, too. I'll let you know tomorrow what we come up with tonight. |
