IP Transit Gets Cheaper

Wholesale Internet access is getting cheaper, but prices vary widely from one region to another, reports TeleGeography.

Median monthly IP transit prices for 1,000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) ports in major U.S. and European cities ranged from $10 to $14 per Mbps in Q2 2008. IP transit prices in Asia remain far higher than in the U.S. and Europe...IP transit service in Latin America is even more expensive...

Wholesale prices around the world have been declining rapidly, due to competition and declining equipment and transport costs. Somewhat surprisingly, prices in the U.S. and Europe are falling as fast as, or faster than, prices in many more expensive regional markets.

Doesn't sound like the market believes those choking-at-the-core stories, does it?
