Internet Still Not Choking

More on the net's non-imminent traffic disaster: "Internet Traffic is Growing Fast--but Capacity is Keeping Pace," says TeleGeography.

BusinessWeek says the same thing in an article headlined "Traffic Growth Isn't Using Up the Internet," and explicitly calls out the telecoms for spinning the story to their advantage: "The service providers have an interest in creating the impression that Internet capacity is a scarce and expensive resource...The problem is, there's little evidence of any capacity shortage."

As recently discussed (again), there are real issues at the edges of the net, with some relatively simple fixes available -- and palatable even to net neuts.
