This report on a jump in productivity doesn't credit technology with any of the gain, although it does point to the role of IT in previous productivity growth.

Maybe the recent uptick was driven by newly-industrious workers who don't want to be the next ones laid off. I'll keep looking for any IT contributions.

The ability to do more with less is what IT promises a lot of businesses - and that promise is at the core of a lot of strategizing these days.

I'd expect productivity to be a hot topic in IT circles for 2009.
