Scary Internet Sex Much Worse Than Paper Variety

Craigslist is having a little spat with the State of South Carolina.

SC attorney general Henry McMaster singled out the online service for ads pertaining to what some call "adult-oriented" fare.

Craigslist then went to court to keep McMaster from filing criminal charges against its execs.

First, though, Craigslist pointed out that similar ads run in print publications across the Palmetto State.

Some people think that McMaster, who may seek higher office, is using the internet as a bogeyman. He'd look like a bluenose if he went after the papers, but there's still political capital in demonizing the net.

Does anyone remember Jack Thompson? He was a lawyer who blames video games violent crimes and kept suing video game makers rather than deal with from actual violent criminals. Thompson got to be a regular guest on various TV news shows since he was good for "Jerry Springer"- style television. Great rants, no facts and no legal basis.

Jack Thompson was disbarred in 2008. Perhaps Henry McMaster should follow.
