Gardner was, of course, freer than the average CIO to indulge his fancies: "As an adult, he wrote a sequel to Baum's 'Wonderful Wizard of Oz' called 'Visitors From Oz,' in which Dorothy encounters characters from the 'Alice' books and Geraldo Rivera."
