HP introduces a souped-up new blade: "The new HP offering highlights the intensifying battle among major server vendors for high-volume deals with customers building cloud computing and HPC infrastructure. IBM recently launched its iDataPlex server for Web 2.0 infrastructure, while Dell has its XS23 Cloud Server."

More: "Hewlett-Packard today said it will combine its high-performance computing unit with it's Web 2.0 and cloud computing infrastructure businesses to create the Scalability Computing Initiative, a name that will refer both to a business unit of HP and a set of hardware, software and services tied to scalable computing."

One big benefit of the dual-server blade: reduced energy consumption.
