CIOs Unwavered in Face of Recession?
"Most of the people here haven't seen the impact yet. The people I've talked to have not seen any dramatic reductions yet."
That's what veteran IT leader and Amtrak CIO Ed Trainor told CIO Insight when asked how his fellow SIM members were handling the recession.
Trainor has been around the block, and he has a very sharp view on the economy and its potential ripple effect or fallout across industries. And he's not alone in saying it's not all gloom and doom: in December, as the recession rolled on, CIOs and other experts told us that they weren't going into full retrenchment mode.
Plenty of CIOs see opportunities in a downturn. Still, many want to run and hide.
Do you agree with Trainor? How are you feeling about your IT strategy and initiatives in these tough times?
