IBM Brands the Cloud

"Resilient Cloud Proven Validation" is IBM's just-announced program to certify cloud-computing services, so users can have confidence in what they're buying.

From the release: "[The] logo will tell customers that a cloud has been designed, implemented and is being managing [sic] by the resilient standards set forth by IBM. In addition to new business and technology services to help clients understand if and how cloud computing fits into their strategy, the program is expected to accelerate the adoption of cloud computing significantly, by allowing businesses of all sizes to find a cloud provider that fits their needs and meets stringent security and resiliency standards."

It's a pretty bold bit of positioning, with IBM assuming an arbiter's role for the future of computing, but it plays into the company's strengths -- not just its the scope of its service offerings, but its reputation.
