History of the internet
Vanity Fair publishes an oral history of the internet.
I found the sections devoted to the early years to be fascinating, right up through the development of TCP (full disclosure: I was a minor contributor to the article).
I liked the latter sections, too, but I knew more about that stuff going in.
Quibbles: the article understates the role of porn in driving the popularity of the web, and overemphasizes the role of professionals in the blogging world at the expense of the vast hands-on revolution taking place.
Good stuff, worth reading in print.
