True confession: I started using Firefox only after my mom mocked me for sticking with IE.
When the 70+ crowd is evangelizing for your web browser, it's safe to say you've gone mainstream.
More evidence, in case my mom doesn't impress you as a statistically-valid sample: Mozilla CEO John Lilly reports that Firefox 3 was downloaded more than 8.3 million times in the day following its launch. A lot of those downloads were by people who already use Firefox; the new version suddenly had about 4% global market share, Lilly says. The total number of downloads now stands north of 12 million.
Rapoza says, "as of this moment, it is clearly the top choice in Web browsers."
Microsoft still commands almost three-quarters of the browser market, but the trend has not been friendly. IE 8 is due out in August.
