Deciphering China
The Olympics are over, but China's influence in the global business world is growing. See why. |
Jim Yardley had a great analysis piece in Sunday's New York Times about the Olympic impact on China. One notable bit: "...China also demonstrated to a global audience that it is a rising economic and political power."
The sports nut that I am, I'm a bit embarrassed to report that I didn't watch much of the Olympics. Well, I was up in the wee morning hours Sunday to watch the Redeem Team recapture the Gold for the U.S. (And the opening ceremonies gave us a really nice look at China's aerial acrobatics.)
But the global business implications were on my mind, especially after I chatted with Warren McFarlan, the legendary Harvard Business School professor and leading thinker on China's future.
From that chat comes two new articles: first, a look at what the Olympics means for China and the IT world, and then McFarlan's predictions for China's global business potential.
Sure, China might not be the most interesting topic for IT pros today. That's a big mistake, in McFarlan's view. Check out his articles to see why.
And tell us: Are you thinking about China's potential impact on your business? What is your company doing to prepare?
